InstaFriday {The Euro-American Version}

This is my first InstaFriday post, aka "Pictures I've taken with my iPhone."
No fancy camera.
Here we go...

Last weekend I was still in Europe, where..

the jars of Nutella are bigger than the average woman's head.
And Sunday lunches with friends look like this.
Tile floors are cold but pretty.
And the neighbor's front door makes me want to craft.
Flea Markets are where you buy breakable things and wonder later
how you will get them home in one piece.
Everything made it, by the way!
I flew home just in time for Ella's last day of 2nd grade.
I taught the girls how to play Uno while their dad
was hangin' with David Lee Roth.
Talia decided she was with child.
And sister got some new wheels for summer.
It was a week that I wish I could repeat.
More European pictures will be coming soon.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend to you!

On Instagram I am @kimberleejost.
Creative. I know.

God, who got you started in this spiritual adventure,
shares with us the life of his Son and our Master Jesus.
He will never give up on you.
Never forget that.

Typical Germany.

It's most definitely spring in Germany.
Every day is filled with small surprises.
The ones that catch my eye are the ones that are the ways of daily life and are of no surprise to anyone here.
I purchased this rustic "farmer's bread" and have since eaten it with cheese, then jam, and finally Nutella.
I am ruined for life.
Time spent outside is a way of life.
We caught the sun as it was setting earlier this week.

This is the dailyness I could get used to.

Basil to Basel {I'm in Europe}

On Friday morning I planted my basil, and on Friday afternoon I boarded a plane that would take me to another plane, that would take me to another plane, that would take me to Basel. That's Switzerland.
I had waited for about 8 months for this day to get here. The day I would see my friend Molly and her husband, John, who are living in Germany.

This Germany...right outside my window.
For my first meal here, we walked into town for a little local fare.
It is Germany, after all.
Steak with onions and garlic butter.  It was one of the best meals I've eaten in a long time. After that, I went home and went to bed. It takes a few hours to get here, and I was zonked.

On Sunday we drove to church over in Switzerland, and God gave me the sweetest gift on Mother's Day by getting to meet this little boy and his Mom.
After church we drove to a little town in France called Kaysersberg.
I kept thinking I needed to pinch myself.
Creme Brulee.
In France.
On Mother's Day.
Other than French mothers, who does that?
We took a winding path up a tall hill to the castle ruins.

It was close to sunset and the view was spectacular.
When I crawled into bed last night, I felt like I had so much to say to God. I was exhausted, but my heart was filled with so much thankfulness for the beauty of the day. I knew it was going to be a great one, but I had no idea how beautiful the details would be. I love a great gift, and this was one I will treasure for a long, long time.

Ten on Ten:: May 2012

This edition of 10 on 10 is dedicated to second grade field trips, which is where I spent most of my day.

Early this morning we pushed all our furniture in our kitchen and foyer to get ready for the carpet cleaners.

Ella's field trip took us to Exploration Place.

My field trip lunch: I always order a veggie sub from Subway.
I was so happy not have to go on the field trip alone.
I spotted this happy aisle at Target before heading home.
Incentive to eat a little dinner: the Igloo our local snow cone place opened for business today!!! I tried Pink Grapefruit tonight----yum.
 Ready to ride.
Clean carpets, 2nd graders, snow cones, Target and purple socks were our 10th.
It was a happy day.
I hope yours was too.
