The Help is on the Way

Source: Amazon.com

"Have you read The Help, yet?"
That's what everyone said to me that had read it, and now here I am saying it to you.
Have you read it?
You should read it.
Really.

I saw the preview for it a couple of weeks ago, and I can't stop thinking about it.

When I read the book I did not think it was a comedy.
At all.
Not even close.
I even told people that I didn't think I was going to be able to watch the movie...I can read about bad things happening to good people a lot easier than I can watch them on screen.
Anybody else?
And now I'm looking forward to the movie.
A lot.
Like I wish it was opening this weekend.
But it opens in August when Bruce will be climbing some mountain somewhere.
Wanna go with me?
What do you think?
I'm texting a babysitter right now.

  6. Marvelous read!! In was wondering why you used the word comedy? So I watched the trailer and I do like how they lightened it. Made me tense, made nervous, made me sad, proud for the maids. My mom lived it, stationed in the south during WWII. Wish I could book club with you! Enjoy! Janice

  7. I loved 'The Help' ... I literally had to make myself put it down (life just kept getting in the way! ;) I'm excited about the movie as well & I'd love to go with you! That would be great but since Kansas & WV are miles apart I will share it with good friends here in the Mountain State & I suspect you'll do the same! Enjoy your Sunday my friend!

  11. I loved the book too! Never considered it a comedy and kept thinking about how scary it must have been, and how brave, for those ladies to write their stories with the chance they would be caught. The domino effect really made me think - scary that people could have such power over others. I did not know it was coming out in movie form! Can't wait to see it now and would love to go with you but I live in Texas! Have you read Water for Elephants? I enjoyed it so much too.
