When she said, "I want you to come." I said, "Okay, but I'm not crafty." As soon as those words were out of my mouth panic set in. Panic that feels like you're going to throw up every stinkin' time you think about it. That was me...for about four months.
You see, I am the least crafty person you've ever met. And the guest list was full of seasoned crafters. Some of them kind of famous in blogland. So, when someone (Megan) who oozes creativity, fun and craftiness asks you to an event that she's hosting for crafty bloggers, you feel flattered. You feel loved. You feel included. You want to go. You tell yourself that someone is going to need to get those crafty bloggers a drink of water now and then, and so you commit. You jump off the craftastic diving board and free fall because you know that "there are a million girls who would kill for your job." (Name that movie.)
And I crafted. Because these women were the best. They went step by step for me. They showed me how to use a sewing machine. They taught me how to backstitch with embroidery. They inspired me to make a necklace made of fabric that I love. I was no longer panicked.
This shirt became my ruffle pillow! |
I'll show you my necklace soon.
And the embroidery, too. It's not finished, yet. I ran out of thread, and can you believe it? I can't get any for a few days due to the snowstorm. It's killing me. I'm itching to finish. I'm even itching to start something new.
I owe it to them.
Cindy
Jana
and Megan.
Thanks for holding the hand of this self imposed water girl turned crafter.
I loved every second of it. And for the record, once I met each of you, I never once felt like throwing up.
