Last night Bruce and I watched the documentary Monica and David.
(Thanks to Tera, Tim and Kathy for recording it for us!)
It documents the marriage and lives of two adults, Monica and David, who have Down syndrome.
It's beautiful.
It's encouraging.
I laughed.
I cried from beginning to end.
It won a World Documentary Competition Award at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival.
It's on HBO this month.
Here's the official trailer for those of you (like us) who don't have HBO. Make sure you put it in your Netflix queue. Seriously. You will love it.

ReplyDeleteoh kim!!!
ReplyDeletei bet it's awesome.
and enlightening?
i have to see it.
Hand me the kleenex now - I didn't even make it thru the trailer.
ReplyDeleteI was home the other morning and surfing through the t.v. and happen to stop on this documentary. It touched my heart so much. I am the mother of a 13 year old son who has autism - Josh is on the higher end of the spectrum so he is able to speak. Watching David and Monica I laughed and cried because they reminded me so much of Josh. So loving and innocent. Thanks for sharing your post.
